30 November Revolutionary Movement
C. Affiliation with Other Groups: Pre-invasion, appeared as
MRP labor affiliate. Now under CRC. June 1962 Havana Pact (JNR)
with Rescate, MDC, UR.
D. Political Alignment and Basic Principles: Heavily
weighted labor membership, with socialistic leanings toward
nationalization of industries. Factionalism exemplified by March
1962 splinter withdrawal from CRC, and by September 1962 declaration of
intent by 16 "ex-leaders" to follow Manolo Ray. Military action,
supported by U. S., to overthrow Castro, return to democratic system
under 1940 constitution, followed by earliest feasible election; total
opposition to communism in the Hemisphere.
E. Leading Personalities: In U. S.: Jesus
FERNANDEZ Hernandez; Oswaldo BETANCOURT Collazo; Orlando RODRIGUEZ
Perez; Carlos RODRIGUEZ Quesada (leader of March 1962 anti-Miro
faction); Jose GOMEZ Cabezas (among September 1962 followers of Manolo
Ray). In Cuba: David SALVADOR Manso (original head; now in
prison); Jose Enrique NUNEZ (National Coordinator prior to 30 Aug
G-2 roll-up: current status unknown).
I. HISTORY
A. Date and Place of Origin: Prior September 1960, Cuba
B. Principal Activities to Date: Apparently
outgrowth of "Labor Unity" allied with Castro in 1958 Caracas
Pact. Named in honor of 30 November 1956 uprising led by Frank
PAIS in Santiago de Cuba. Turned against Castro May 1960 when SALVADOR
was replaced as CTC Secretary-General by a Communist.
Across-the-board anti-Castro activities inside Cuba: guerrilla,
sabotage, propaganda, informal escape routes, etc.
II. CURRENT STATUS
A. Estimated Membership: Cuba 500 U. S. 300 ELSEWHERE Unknown
B. Current Activities: Involved in planning
unified "uprising" 29 August 1962, and consequent mass arrests; effects
not yet assessed. Prior to that, making apparently sincere effort
to unify with other groups inside (JNR); low-key propaganda by cells of
3-10 people; some strength in each province, but G-2 taking steady
toll. Outside Cuba, propaganda by pamphlets, overt radio, and
labor locals; securing visa waivers. Effect of Manolo Ray's JURE
pull yet to be assessed.
C. Support Facilities: Diplomatic couriers,
occasional exfiltration in "pirate" fishing craft. Financial
support through CRC; otherwise not well financed; some attempts to sell
bonds.
