9:30 a.m. Joe Grimm reported that Sen. Robert Dole will canvass
S.W. 56 Street West from Miller Drive (9:30-9:45) re: knocking on doors
"get out the vote." 1,000 Pro-Nixon young people will be with
him. Requested traffic control help from P.S.D. This office
contacted Sgt. Dolan, West District, S.M.P.D. and C.G.P.D. - 15 people
showed up "QRU" at 10:15 a.m. per Sgt. Dolan.
App. 2 p.m. Approximately 35-40 V.V.A.W. persons walked South
from Ft. Lauderdale set up camp for the night in Greynolds Park-East
(overnight camping has been approved by the County) QRU.

Camping VVAW people will break camp between 10-11 a.m. and march down
U.S. #1 to 79 Street, march East across causeway. They will have
lunch at Indian Creek Park and meet Scott Camile and 250 vehicles
mortorcade at approximately 2 p.m.

2:00 p.m. 12-15 National Socialists on bus from Ft. Lauderdale at
Lums at N.W. 125 Street and W. Dixie Hwy. for lunch. At the
restaurant a fight broke out with some Jewish people, N.M.P.D. handled
and sent bus on its way. Capt. Clifton, Station #1, and Sgt.
Smith advised at 2:10 p.m. that the bus and the socialists were at
Station 1 and that they were going to be escorted back to Broward
County and told to stay there after OCB talks with them - Officer Paul
Janosky.
2:30 p.m. Convention Site and Flamingo Park - V.V.A.W. - 500
persons moving from Flamingo Park, East on 15 Street from Meridian
Gates 4 & 5 on 17 Street and Washington Avenue. Destination

MBPD requesting more units. Request made for two more vans.
6:19 p.m. Park & 23 Street - MPD motorman being attacked by demos.
6:29 p.m. Dade Boulevard
6:30 p.m. Per Recruit Ralph Hernandez at Capt. Pletcher's Command
Post, two motormen (PSD) Edward C. Hartman and Stutz (Park Avenue and
20 Street, MB) Heard on radio that a woman needed help - being attached
in her car by hippies. They responded - on the way dipsy
dumpsters were thrown in thir path. Officer Hartman hit with a
metal pipe in left shoulder. Two other hippies pushed Hartman
over. Arrest made by MBPD.
6:30 p.m. Continued - Officer McGrory (PSD) sent over to
help. His motor was hit by a woman in a car ($50 damage) Subject
who pushed Hartman was booked at City of Miami Beach. Charges and
name unknown at this time. Hartman is in a Miami Beach hospital -
exact location unknown. Stutz is supposedly in good condition.
6:35 p.m. Per Recruit Sheryl Corcoran - arrest are being made by FHP at 23 Street and Collins Avenue.
6:40 p.m. Per Sgt. Ellis Smith - demo's vandalizing cars all around South Beach - sporadic.
6:45 p.m. 80 males and 37 females arrested and they are on their way to County Jail.
6:47 p.m. 17 Street and James - Police gasing the area - demo's seen placing yellow objects around the building.
6:55 p.m. Per Lt. Wells - Officer Hartman is at South Shore Hospital, Miami Beach, and is being released.
6:56 p.m. Washington and Lincoln - 25 Zippies using mace on pedestrians.
7:04 p.m. 17 Street and Washington Avenue - 500 demo's blocking traffic on Washington Avenue.
7:10 p.m. 1,000-1,500 S.D.S. West on 17 Street from Washington Avenue.
7:10 p.m. Gate #9 - 17 Street between Meridian and Washington - throwing rocks - request assistance from PSD.

7:30 p.m. From 17 Street North on Washington - Police making sweep per Chief Lougheed.
7:31 p.m. Per Central District - Hartman was transported to the
Station, he is going, he is suffering from internal bleeding.
7:32 p.m. 2,000 S.D.S. at 19 Street and Collins Avenue - Police request Aid.
7:33 p.m. Double Deck parking lot - Washington and 17 Street - 2,000 demonstrators. Police using gas.
7:44 p.m. 17 Street and Washington - Limosine being surrounded by demonstrators.
7:47 p.m. 18 Street and Washington - PSD motorman inhaled a large
dose of gas, he was taken to the hospital - Sgt. Ronald Krall.
7:55 p.m. 18 Street and Washington - demo's being pushed North on Washington Avenue by gas and police line.
8:03 p.m. 17 Street and Meridian - 50 demo's blocking traffic.
8:07 p.m. Rear of the Convention Hall - reference white Ford. Request all units stay clear - bomb advise 313.
8:15 p.m. Lincoln Road Mall - 75 demo's running South "trashing" 200 blocking.
8:17 p.m. Reference white Ford - pickup truck - Request units stay clear.
8:47 p.m. 100 trashing - Leaving Park - moving North on Meridian - PSD trying to stop them.
8:54 p.m. Tear gas being used - unknown if is a police officer or a demonstrator.
